Cogeneration plant from renewable sources gas Power 3 196 00 KwPlant type gas cogenerationCommissioning date 06 2008The cogeneration plant powered by methane gas in 2008 was able to produce electricity hot water and steam The cogenerated thermal energy was intended for the production of steam and hot water and was counted for the purpose of determining the CAR indices and the recognition of white certificates duration 10 years until 2018 The electricity produced by the groups net of plant uses was entirely absorbed by the users served which are connected to the national electricity grid The system is currently shut down neither of the two engines was managed during the inspection with inactivity for about 2 years The system was designed to connect to the city district heating network to serve private users but this has never been carried out the assignment of white certificates was requested for a duration of 10 calendar years From the operating data received hours of operation electricity and thermal energy produced it is observed that the system produced below its potential 35 The plant was not stacked as D1 The plant consists of two internal combustion engines fueled by methane gas model Caterpillar G316C with a net electrical power of 1 598 kW each and thermal power introduced with fuel of 4 161 kWt each A thermal recovery system is applied to each engine to enhance the heat deriving from the cooling lubrication and exhaust gas circuits The thermal energy is recovered in the form of hot water at 87 C and saturated steam at a pressure of 7 bar The thermal energy recovered in the form of hot water was intended to power the heating system of the plants and to pre heat the boiler feed water while the steam was directly conveyed to the main collector for technological uses The plant is installed in a building which is purposely built for the insertion of the cogeneration plant it has a rectangular plan and is spread over two floors ground and first inside the which are housed in the cogeneration plant the urea tanks of the SCRs the electrical panels of parallel network command and control the two main transformers and the power plant service transformer the polluting emissions abatement system It borders on another building of the plant used as a thermal power plant The emergency dissipation radiators the heat dissipation radiators produced by the intercooler system the sound absorbing baffles for the expulsion of combustion air and washing air are housed in the area of the roof above the local plant the soundproofing mufflers on the discharge line of the cogeneration groups
