  • AUCTION TYPES
    • How does an online auction work?

Play the video to find out how to take part in an online auction on Industrial Discount and/or download our user guide.

    • What is an auction “in two phases”?

An auction in two phases offers the possibility to bid both on single lots and/or for the whole bulk and is divided in:

      • First phase

You can bid for single lots until the countdown expires* then the second phase starts. * The time may vary according to the offers made. Go to the “AUCTION PROCESS” section and scroll to the question "When does an auction close?".

      • Second phase (extension phase)

It lasts 10 minutes and during this phase you have the possibility to make an offer for all the lots. Timer and price** will appear on the main auction page.
If during the second phase offers for the bulk are made, the highest bidder will win all the lots. If no offers are made during the 10 minutes the highest bidders of the single lots will be considered winners or best bidders.
The bulk price is available at all times on your watchlist page. Add the auction to your watchlist and from that page you will see the bulk value constantly updated as offers for the lots are made. ** The bulk starting price is equal to the sum of all the lots values plus a minimum raise equal to the sum of all the lots minimum raise values.
ATTENTION: if the auction has reserve prices the bulk price will be equal to the sum of the reserve prices plus a minimum raise equal to the sum of all the lots minimum raise values.

    • What is a “single” auction?

In this type of auction you can bid only for single lots. There will be no second phase so you cannot place bids for the whole bulk.

    • What is a “bulk” auction?

In this type of auction you can make offers only for the whole bulk and will not have the option to bid for single lots. Once you pay the deposit you will see he button “bid now” appear on the main auction page.

    • What does “contact us” mean and why can’t I pay the deposit?

Read carefully the auction description for more information. There can be two type of auction that show this option:

      • Auction preview

It is the advertisement of an auction that still has to open. You can find the auction opening date, from which you will be able to pay the deposit, in the auction description. If you click on “contact us” you can send a request to obtain more preliminary information about the sale.

      • Offline auction

In this type of auction you will not see the button “pay deposit” and you will not have the possibility to make offers on the website. To take part in the auction follow the instructions you find in the specific sale terms and conditions or the auction sale notice and in the auction description on the main page.
Click on the button “contact us” to ask for more information about the sale or contact the agent directly.

  • MAIN AUCTION INFORMATION
    • What type of information can I find on the auction/lot page?

On the auction and lot pages you will find a lot of key information among which the following entries:

      • Auction code

Auction identification number, main reference for any kind of information request. You can find this code next to the auction or below the lot title.

      • Lot number

Lot ID number. You can find this number next to the lot title.

      • Experiment number

Number of times the goods have been online on sale by auction.

      • Location

It is the generic location of the goods. ( ATTENTION: some sales include goods placed in different locations, the specific position in this case is indicated in the lot description).

      • Price

It is the starting price or the highest bid placed if present. Next to this value you will always see the accessory costs (Buyer’s Premium or BP, supervision fees or SR).

      • Reserve price

It shows if there is a reserve price or not. The definition “met” indicates that there is no reserve price or it has already been met. The definition “not met” indicates that there is a reserve price higher than the starting price or than the last offer made and it has not been met yet.

(Go to the section “AUCTION PARTICIPATION” and scroll to the question “what is the reserve price?” for more information).

      • Date and time

It is the auction closing date and time.

      • Deposit

It is the amount you are required to pay to take part in the auction.

        (Read the “DEPOSIT” section).

      • VAT if applicable

Is isn’t possible to indicate previously if the VAT is applicable as it depends on a number of factors connected to the type of buyer and to the origin of the goods. Usually if the VAT is not applicable to a particular good it is indicated in the lot description or you can find the different cases of exemption in the VAT section.

(Read the “PAYMENT AND COLLECTION” section and scroll to “VAT: exemption cases”)

  • AUCTION PARTICIPATION
    • How can I place an online bid?
      1. Log in (if you haven’t done it yet, complete your registration with the information required)
      2. Go to the auction page
      3. Pay the deposit (via Credit Card or Wire Transfer)
      4. Once your profile is linked to the auction click on “BID NOW” in the lot page next to the lot image
      5. Type in your offer
      6. Flag the box to accept the auction “Terms and Conditions” and click on “BID NOW”
      • How to make sure you correctly place the bid

        • Type in your bid without dots or commas
        • The first bid can be equal to the starting price
        • From the second offer on your bid must include the minimum raise that the system shows in the bid modal
        • The bid cannot be inferior to the starting price or the last offer received
        • Make sure you accept the Specific Sale Terms and Conditions
      • How to keep updated on the auction
You will receive a notification via email:
        • When you place a successful bid
        • Each time your offer is outbid
        • Each time the Proxy Bid is outbid

IMPORTANT: we strongly suggest you insert the email address info@industrialdiscount.com in your email contact list. If you notice you aren’t receiving our emails check the spam folder and if necessary remove the spam flag from our address.

      • Bid placing methods

        Static Bid:
you manually place one bid at a time. If your offer is outbid, and you wish to raise your bid, you have to place another static bid.

        Proxy Bid:
you can insert the maximum amount you are willing to offer. Each time your bid is outbid the Proxy Bid system will automatically raise the bids (applying the minimum raise) each time your previous offer is outbid until it reaches the maximum bid you have previously set.

IMPORTANT: Some lots have a reserve price.

(Go to the question “What is the reserve price?”)

        HOW IT WORKS

    • I paid the deposit but I don’t see the “BID NOW” button

Make sure you have logged in. If you still see “PAY DEPOSIT” it means that the deposit has not yet been linked to your profile (in case of wire transfer please wait for the sum to be credited in our account) or the transaction wasn’t successful (in case of credit card payments make sure you received the email from Banca Sella that confirms the successful operation).

      • Wire transfer payments:
regular wire transfer takes approximately 48 working hours to be credited. If after 3 days you still haven’t received the “profile enabled” email notification and after logging in you still see “PAY DESPOSIT”, contact our staff.
Make sure that there isn’t any specific documentation required for the participation in the auction. You can find this information in the Specific Sale Terms and Conditions or in the auction description.
      • Credit card payments:
verify the successful operation by checking your inbox for the email from Banca Sella that confirms your request has been processed successfully. If your request went through your profile will automatically be enabled to take part in the auction. If you can’t complete the operation successfully and you have already verified the availability of your credit card, contact our staff.
      • I don’t see neither BID NOW nor PAY DEPOSIT:
you may have the firewall port 1337 for TCP protocol. Contact your network administrator to unlock the port.
    • I can’t place bids and I see on the top right corner of the screen CONNECTION ERROR CONTACT INDUSTRIAL DISCOUNT STAFF

      The reason may be:

      • Graphic updates:
our website is constantly updating to guarantee a continuous improvement of the user experience; some browsers may have saved in the cache folder some outdated data that influence the correct uploading of the website page or the effective functioning of the system. In most cases the problem can be solved by entering the browser menu and erasing the history and cache folder. You can then go back to the website and try again.
      • Multiple login:
If you logged in from more than one device remember that you will be able to place bid only from the last device connected to the website. To make sure this isn’t the problem logout from all devices and connect from only one device at a time.
      • Firewall port 1337:
If you are using a company connection you might have a firewall problem. Ask your company’s IT technician to verify that the firewall port 1337 for TCP protocol is unblocked and then try again. If the problem persists contact our staff.
    • Where can I see the minimum raise?

When you click on “bid now” if other bids have been placed the minimum raise will be shown above the bid field.

    • What is the reserve price?

The reserve price is the value the seller sets on a particular lot below which the lot cannot be sold without the seller’s approval. This means that if, at the end of the auction, you are the highest bidder but the reserve price is not met you have to wait for a communication from our staff to know if your offer has been accepted. It is not possible to know the reserve price value, if you reach the reserve price during the auction the system will show it in the reserve price field in the lot page.

    • Can I place a bid lower than the starting price?

It’s not possible to place bids that are lower than the starting price. If there aren’t any bids yet you can place a bid equal to the starting price. Otherwise you must place a bid that includes the minimum raise shown by the system after you click on “bid now”.

    • What is the Proxy Bid and how does it work?

It is an automatic raising system that places bids on your behalf. All you have to do is set the maximum bid you are willing to place for that lot and the Proxy Bid will act as follows:

      • When another bid is placed
When a new offer is placed the Proxy Bid will raise applying the minimum raise. If the outbidding offer is higher than your bid but the maximum value you set doesn’t allow the system to apply the minimum raise, the system will still be able to place the bid as it considers your maximum offer as previously set.
      • If your offer is outbid
The Proxy Bid will react until the maximum value set is outbid. You will receive an email each time the Proxy Bid reacts.
      • If no other bids are placed
Your Proxy Bid will not react.
      • If the counter offer is equal to the proxy bid set
If a counter offer is equal to the proxy bid you set the system considers valid the offer made by the Proxy Bid as it has been previously set.
    • How can I cancel a Proxy Bid?

When you click on “bid now” you will find your Proxy Bid saved and next to it the icon “X” to cancel it.

    • When I place a bid, is the offer valid for all the items i see in the pictures or only for what I read in the lot description?

We put all our effort to publish auctions with good quality pictures on our website. Nevertheless, in case of differences between what written in the description and what you see in the pictures, you shall consider valid what is reported in the description. We remind you that in the Specific Sale Terms and Conditions it is clearly reported that goods are sold “as it is in fact and in the state in which it is found” and no warranty is provided. We strongly recommend that you schedule an inspection of the lots you are interested in before taking part in an auction.

    • When does an auction close?

An auction closes when the timer reaches 00:00:00 and on the auction page you read “auction closed”.
IMPORTANT: If in the last 5 minutes a new bid is placed the time is automatically extended for another 5 minutes from the moment the bid is placed. For this reason, there is no need to wait until the last second to place a bid.

    • What does “pending result” mean?

When the time expires if you see “pending result” appear this means that in the same auction there are other users that are still placing bids for other lots. The auction will officially close when the time expires for all lots. In case of an auction in two phases the second phase will then open and will last 10 minutes.

(Go to the “WATCHLIST” section for more information)

    • What happens if no bids are placed for a lot?

The auction closes and a report with the auction data is sent to the seller that will consider if and when to schedule a new auction experiment and at which conditions. You can insert the lot in your watchlist or click on “keep updated on the sale” to receive a notification email when the new experiment opens.

(Go to the “WATCHLIST” section for more information)

  • DEPOSIT
    • What is a deposit and how can I pay it?

It is the amount you are required pay to be able to bid for the lots in an auction. This amount is not to be considered as an advance payment nor an offer and will be held only temporarily to be eventually returned.

(Scroll to the question “when will the deposit be refunded?”)

      The payment methods are two:

      • Bank transfer payments
Click on “pay deposit by wire transfer now”, insert your bank details that will be used for the deposit refund, download the deposit receipt, make the wire transfer from your bank account, and forward both receipts (the one you download and the wire transfer receipt) to account@itauction.it. As soon as we verify the payment we will activate your account and you will be able to bid on the lots of the auction. You will receive a communication via email.
IMPORTANT: remember that payments by wire transfer can take up to 48hrs to be received depending on the type of operation.
      • Credit card or prepaid card payments
The option for the credit card payment is active from 7 days before auction closure. Click on “pay deposit by credit card now” and follow the instructions to complete the online payment by typing in your cards details. If the operation is successful your profile will be automatically linked to the auction and you will be able to start bidding immediately. You will also receive an email by Banca Sella that confirms the successful transaction. Once you have paid the deposit, login and go to the auction page where you will see the button “pay deposit” replaced with “bid now”. You are now allowed to place bids for all the lots of the auction.
IMPORTANT: we strongly suggest not to wait until the last minute to pay the deposit so that in case of any technical problem incurred in completing the operation you will have time to ask our staff for assistance or support.
    • Where can I see the deposit amount?

In the auction description or by clicking on “pay the deposit now”, a frame will open with the instructions for the payment and the deposit details including the amount.

    • Can I inspect the lots before I pay the deposit?

Yes, in the auction page you can find the contact person’s details and the location of the goods. Usually for each auction we organize a date for the inspection of the goods so that the interested parties have the opportunity to verify the state of the goods before attending the online auction. Send an email request to the contact person to schedule an appointment.

    • How many deposits should I pay?

If you pay a deposit for an auction experiment you will be allowed to bid on all the lots included in that specific auction. If you wish to place bids on various lots that are part of different auctions then you have to pay a deposit for each auction.

    • Is the deposit an advance payment in case of win?

No. The deposit is never considered as an advance payment, it will be refunded entirely once we receive the payment or the goods are collected.

    • Can I use the deposit for another auction or another auction experiment?

No, the deposit is valid only for one auction experiment.
ONLY EXCEPTION: if you paid the deposit by wire transfer, and we have not refunded the amount yet, you can ask for the deposit to be kept for the next auction experiment by sending an email to account@itauction.it.

    • What type of card can I use for the deposit payment?

The system accepts all credit cards that use VISA or MASTERCARD circuits.

    • Can I pay the deposit with a credit card not registered in my name?

Yes, it is not relevant that the card is issued in your name or belongs to someone else, as the amount will be refunded and is not considered as part of the payment of an auction.

    • Why in some auctions I have only the “wire transfer” payment option?

Please read carefully the auction description as this type of auction usually requires you to sign or send specific documentation to be allowed to place bids on the lots. This may be due to the type of Legal Procedure, restrictions on the sale, or for reasons related to the goods that may not comply with the European normative. The documentation required must be verified and therefore credit card payment is not possible, as it would activate your profile automatically without giving us time to complete the verification process. The specific documentation is always indicated in the auction description, in the Specific Sale Terms and Conditions and/or downloadable from the document section on the auction page.

    • Why can’t I pay the deposit with my credit card?

You may have not typed the security code required for transactions on Visa or Mastercard circuits or your card may not have the credit availability. Please contact the number you find printed on your credit card for more information.

    • When will the deposit be refunded?
      • In case of win
The deposit will be refunded within 7 working days from when we receive the payment confirmation or, if specified in the Specific Sale Terms and Conditions of the auction, once the goods have been collected.
      • In case of no win
The deposit will be refunded within 7 working days from the auction closing time.
      • Credit or prepaid card payments
Our administration office sends the authorization to release the amount to Banca Sella. The amount will then be available on your card according to the timings of the credit card company. If you need more specific information, please contact the number you find printed on your credit card.
      • Wire transfer payments
Once our administration office refunds the amount consider the regular timings of bank transactions, approximately 48 working hours.
    • I received an email that confirms the refund of the deposit, but I don’t see the transaction in my account yet, why?

Check if you see a transaction corresponding to the payment of the deposit. Usually it isn’t indicated, as no financial transaction has actually taken place. When you pay a deposit with your card Banca Sella temporary freezes the sum for a specific amount of time and waits for an authorization to release it or collect it.

    • I received an email that confirms the refund of the deposit, but I don’t have the amount available on my card yet, why?

Once the deposit release is authorized the amount will be available on your card according to the internal timings of your card company. For more information please contact the number you find printed on your credit card.

    • When can a deposit NOT be refunded?

Only in case the successful tenderer doesn’t comply with the specific sale terms and conditions for what concerns payment or collection of the goods. The payment timings are always specified on the auction and lot page, in the payment notes, and in the specific sale terms and conditions. In case of auction on behalf of a Legal Procedure the amount will be turned to the legal receiver as a compensation for any damage caused.

    • I received an email that informs me that the deposit has been temporarily collected, why?

Banca Sella freezes the amount for 25 days. To allow the release of the amount IT Auction must receive the written confirmation of the payment reception by the Legal Procedure/seller, if we haven’t received it within 25 days from the payment of the deposit, we have to temporarily collect the deposit as a precautionary measure. When we receive the payment, the amount will be entirely returned to your card and you will receive an email as refund confirmation.

  • PAYMENT AND COLLECTION
    • Where can I find payment instructions?

Within a few hours from the auction closure you will receive an email that confirms the win and a second email containing the payment notes with all the details to proceed with the payment in observance with the auction terms and conditions.

    • When can I collect the goods I have won?

In order to organize the collection of the goods we must first receive the confirmation of payment and authorization to collection from the Legal Procedure/seller. The contact person in charge of the auction will then contact you via email to organize all the collection details.
Keep in mind that when the sale is on behalf of a Legal Procedure the timings can be longer than a regular private sale. You can find the collection terms in the specific sale terms and conditions.

    • Is there any specific equipment on site for the dismantling and loading of the lots?

In most cases no specific equipment is available. All collection procedures are on behalf of the successful tenderer (dismantling, loading, transportation). This does not exclude the possibility to ask for an estimate or advice to our contact person that, if and when possible, will be glad to provide such information or service.

    • To whom can I ask for the measures and weight details of the won lots?

All lot information in our possession is already published online in the lot description. For any additional information please send an email to the contact person.

    • Can I assign the collection of the goods to another company or a courier?

Yes, you can hire a specific company or courier for the collection. Please keep in mind that it is necessary to inform the contact person who will send you the necessary and mandatory specific documentation you need to allow a third party to collect the goods on your behalf.

    • Where can I find the list of won lots?

Login and go to the menu on the top right corner of the page and click on “won/lost lots”. You will see the list of won lots.

    • Are there any accessory costs that will be added to the lot final price?

VAT will be applied to the final price (if applicable), you have to consider also the Buyer’s Premium+VAT, and if specified on the lot page the Supervision Fees “SR”+VAT.
IMPORTANT: Always read carefully the specific sale terms and conditions of the auction.

      • Registered movable assets
You have to consider the costs of the paperwork. If the paperwork is assigned to our approved agency you can find the price list in the documentation section of the lot.
    • VAT: exemption cases
      • Regular Italian Exporter
To buy in VAT exemption an Italian company has to provide, before the invoice is issued, the “Declaration of Intent”: one issued to IT Auction and one issued to the Legal Procedure/Seller(IMPORTANT: the declaration of intent must comprehend the Agenzia delle Entrate receipt). You can find all the data in the payment notes that you receive via email after the auction closure.

(Go to the “EXPORTATION” section for more information)
      • VIES database
If both seller and buyer are registered with VIES the VAT will not be applied to the sale. You will receive the payment notes without VAT. In case one or both are not registered with VIES then the VAT will be regularly applied. You can verify your subscription HERE .
      • Extra CEE buyer
In this case we will ask you to pay the VAT as an EXPORT DEPOSIT. This amount will be fully refunded when we receive back (within 90 days from collection date) the DAE with the MRN (Movement Reference Number).
      • Italian companies or private buyers
If not clearly specified in the lot description the VAT will be regularly applied.
      • Private owned assets
In case the VAT is not applicable or will be applied in a different percentage this information will be reported in the lot description.
    • When will I receive the invoice?

Commission invoices are sent via email to the buyer at the end of the month. The invoice of the goods is issued and sent by the Legal Procedure/seller and usually has the date of the payment. It may be sent by email or by regular mail. We can't guarantee the timing for this invoice. If you haven’t received the invoice please send a request to pagamenti@industrialdiscount.com so we can send a request to the Legal Procedure/seller.

    • Can I modify the data used for the invoice?

In no case data modification requests are accepted after taking part in an auction. The invoice will be issued automatically with your profile information.

(For more information please read the “REGISTRATION” section)

  • EXPORTATION
    • Will VAT be applied to goods that will be exported?

VAT will be applied in compliance with the tax legislation in force at the moment.

(For more information go to the “PAYMENT AND COLLECTION” section and scroll to “VAT exemption cases”)

      • EXTRA CEE company or self-employed professional
We will ask you to pay the VAT as Export Deposit which will be refunded after the exportation. The exportation must be completed within 90 days from the collection date (information present on the DDT) and has to be proved by sending the custom documentation (DAE) on which it is indicated the MRN code (Movement Reference Number).
      • CEE Company or self-employed professional
You will pay VAT only if VIES registration conditions are not met. In both cases we will ask you to send us the CMR signed and sent via fax from a foreign number.

(See also “PAYMENT AND COLLECTION” section and scroll to “VAT: exemption cases”)
    • I am a regular Italian exporter do I have to pay VAT?

At the end of the auction you will receive the payment notes containing the information you need to issue the “Declaration of Intent” (one for IT Auction and one for the procedure/seller). We will verify the documentation received and send you back the payment notes in VAT exemption.

      • Voluntary liquidations and Leasing company sales
You will receive both payment notes issued to IT Auction as the payment to the seller will be turned by us to their account. To issue a “Declaration of Intent” on the sellers name please write to pagamenti@industrialdiscount.com asking for the sellers information in order to issue two different declarations (one for IT Auction and one for the seller).
    • Is it diffcult to obtain the documentation necessary for exportation when buying from a Legal Procedure?

Industrial discount supports the buyer in all after-sale phases trying to facilitate the exportation process. It is anyhow important to remember that since the assets come from companies under Legal Procedure it is not possible to provide the EUR1 certificate and therefore the customs taxes will be higher.

  • REGISTERED MOVABLE ASSETS
    • What are the timings for completing the administrative formalities necessary to collect a registered movable asset?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to define a specific timing as the completion of the administrative formalities depends on a number of factors (payment and documentation reception, sellers reply, technical timings for administrative and bureaucratic procedures, etc.)

    • What are the procedures for completing the administrative formalities associated to registered movable assets?
      • Change of ownership
Once we receive the payment confirmation from the seller the procedures for change of ownership will start. If the paperwork is managed by Effe agency you will find the information in the lot description (you can also find the price list in the document section) and can wait for us to contact you asking for the necessary documentation. If differently another agency is in charge you will receive the information from the contact person of the auction.
      • Mini change of ownership for Italian traders
If your company has the authorization to buy with mini change of ownership you can specify it by replying to the email in which we ask for the documentation necessary to the change of ownership. We will put you directly in contact with the agency that will let you know how to proceed.
      • Plate cancellation for exportation
If you are a foreign company and want to export all you have to do is specify it by replying to the mail where we ask you for the documentation necessary to the change of ownership. We will put you directly in contact with the agency that will let you know how to proceed.
IMPORTANT: cancellation of the plate for exportation will not be possible if the successful tenderer is registered with an Italian VAT number.
      • Scarapping
If you wish to scrap a registered movable asset, all you have to do is specify it by replying to the email in which we ask for the documentation necessary to the change of ownership. We will put you directly in contact with the agency that will let you know how to proceed.
IMPORTANT:for some auctions it may be necessary to send some specific documentation that you can find indicated and/or downloadable from the auction or lot page. In this case you will find the information specified in the auction and lot page and in the specific sale terms and conditions.
    • Where can I find the costs for the administrative formalities associated to registered movable assets?

If the procedures are managed by Effe agency you find the price list in the documentation section of the lot page. If the procedures are managed by a different agency it is not possible to estimate the cost. You can ask more information to the contact person via email.

    • If in the lot description I see that some or all the documents are missing what shall I do?

The agency in charge of the administrative formalities will take care of the duplicate request and will give you all the information you need. Any extra fees shall be borne by the successful tenderer.

    • Can I collect the lot before the change of ownership is completed?

Until the administrative formalities aren’t completed, the responsibility of the registered movable asset is of the seller and for this reason it is not possible to organize collection until the documentation is ready and the service paid.

    • Can a registered movable asset be registered in a different person/company name other than the successful tenderer?

The data we use to issue any type of document are automatically taken from your profile. It will not be possible to change such information after the auction is closed.

    • How can I find out if there is any encumbrance or administrative distraint on a vehicle and if I have to pay for the cancelation?

The presence of administrative distraint, foreclosure or encumbrance is indicated in the DMV information (Visura PRA) uploaded online in the lot page. If this document is not available you can send an email requesting more information to the contact person of the auction.
For what concerns the costs you have to consider each single case: any extra charges shall be borne by the successful tenderer. Effe agency can cancel at no costs the administrative distraints of the following institutions: Equitalia Forlì e Ravenna, Corit e Sorit Ravenna, Ravenna Entrate.
For other costs please read the price list you find in the lot page.

    • Are there any implications when on the ownership certificate the transcription of the Legal Procedure appears, and can I ask for the cancelation?

The costs for the cancelation of the transcription of the Legal Procedure on the ownership certificate shall be borne by the successful tenderer, as indicated in the specific sale terms and conditions. Please remember that the cancelation of such transcription is not mandatory as it does not limit the circulation or the change of ownership of the vehicle.
